Exploring the Abandoned Hotel

I told you last week that I would show you some pictures that my boyfriend took inside of the upper rooms, and basement, of the abandoned hotel that I work inside of.  (The artist I work for uses the lobby, kitchen, and storage room as his studio.)  So here are some pictures, as I promised!  Max has a darker aesthetic when it comes to photography which suits the mood of the hotel perfectly.  Also, I am listening to The Gothic Box music set right now featuring bands such as The Cure, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Bauhaus, and Cocteau Twins.  Fitting?  Yes.  Moody?  Definitely.

That photo of me turning on the light is in the basement of the hotel.  It used to be a speakeasy waaaay back in the day, early 1900s.  There is a secret passage way leading up to the street where night time drinkers and dancers could run up to escape the police.  There is also a big metal door embedded with bullet holes that leads down underground to a secret passageway that heads to the ocean.  The walls and floor are just dirt and earth.  No chance in hell that I will ever go down there, Freaky!!!!

See more photos in Max's flickr.

I don't think I'd have the courage to go through that secret passageway, either. Always neat to see how things decay.

So dark and lovely. And a little creepy. I don't think I'd want to go into the dungeon-like part either!

This is incredible! The pictures are amazing, and I bet the hotel is so great to be in. I love exploring places like that.
