Oh Hair

I got my haircut and dyed yesterday by a professional for the first time in 4 years!  Woah.  I usually cut it myself or have a friend cut it.  But for my birthday (which was last Monday) one of my friends gave me a gift certificate for a free haircut at a super fancy salon in Seattle.  You know, the sort of salon where they have you change into a silky smooth robe and they treat you to whatever sort of latte or fancy drink you would like.  I felt so out of place, haha.  I love fancy things but in my heart of hearts, I am a thrifty silly spastic outdoor loving artistic lady.  This salon was all about glamor, through and through.  And I ended up with a much more chic haircut that I had expected.  The problem is that I don't think I am really in the mood for a chic sleek haircut, at least not for summer.

My last haircut by my friend Cory:
it had the perfect amount of layers for my ridiculously thick hair.
That was a really good haircut because it lifted a lot of weight off my head and it felt fun and funky.  I was hoping that the pro hairstylist would jump on in and give my hair a good chopping, I need those layers!  But he ended up making it less voluminous and more flat and sleek.  Pretty, but not my style right now.  I also had planned to take the color back to my natural color which is a mousy brown dark gold sort of color like in these photos:

But because I had totally failed when I tried to lighten it myself a month ago, it kinda ruined my hair colors and made it more discolored and uneven than good looking and fun.  So pro hairstylist said I need to take it darker to even out the tones and then over the summer, the sun will slowly lighten up my hair again.  Dang it.  Oh well...too bad there is no sun in Seattle to lighten my hair with!  Boo.  I guess at least my hair is all the same even color rather than the mess it was before.  One day, one day I'll get back to my natural color!  Previous to my hair now, my hair had faded to a medium auburn sort of color and the ends of my hair had for some reason stayed a lot darker than the top of my head.  I had to get it fixed.

I'll take a better picture soon, but here is a Macbook photo of my hair right now.  Super sleek. Very well cut and colored.  But too conservative and sleek for my personality, and too dark for summer fun.
It's basically the same as Cory's awesome haircut, but just not enough layers, too thick, too dark, and too smooth for my taste.  Good enough for now I guess.  Also, I was starting to look tan when my hair was lighter, and now I'm back to looking pale and pastey.  BOO!

I looove the color! I don't think it looks bad, a little styling will make it look more funky. Maybe some jagged bangs?

Just give your self a few days to get used to it before you change it.

Yeah, the sun can only lighten your hair if we ever get any. Which maybe looks like it's never going to happen.

I like it! But I totally understand the too-dark-for-summer feeling. Every time I color my hair when it's warm out, I can't help but think, "WHY ISN'T IT FALL YET?"

Ok I seriously love your haircut and I have an appointment to cut my hair in a week. I was actually planning on cutting it very similar to yours because I need a "lift" and some volume. I love the style, it's kinda rocker/artsy chick, Joan Jett style. YA!!!!
