Next Saturday is my Father's birthday & this year I decided I didn't just want to get him a gift I wanted to do something a little more special to show him how much I care. I've been brainstorming ideas then a few days ago I came up with the one I decided to go with. I started making little plush fabric hearts & the plan is to hide them all over my parent's house for him to uncover. The next time he opens his glasses case or looks in his coat pocket he will find a little reminder of just how much I care. He's a sentimental kind of guy & I know he will be super touched my my gesture.

I am going to be a little sneaky to make sure he doesn't find them all too quickly. I will also be gifting him a mason jar so he has some place to keep all of the little hearts once he's found them. When I present him with his gift I am going to hand him one heart & tell him that every time he finds one to remember how much I love him.
I wanted to share this idea with you because I thought it would be great for any holiday or for when someone you love could use a tangible reminder of your support (Maybe on your son's first day of school when he is apprehensive to leave your side or on the day your husband goes for an important interview). My father has had a tough year & more than gifts I know he is looking for kindness & caring. Sometimes little things like finding a loving handmade surprise in your pocket after having a hard day can make all the difference in the world.
XOXO Katie

ReplyDeletehow do you sew the hearts? i'm not super craftsy, but i'm trying to make this for valentine's day. based on the pictures it looks like i'm supposed to cut the hearts out first and then sew them. are they supposed to be sewn with a machine or by hand? if by hand, is there a special stitch i'm supposed to use?
ReplyDeleteplease help! thank you! =)
i have made things like this before. it is easiest to cut them out then stitch together with a sewing machine. just remember before u close it up to fill it! hope that helps
