Music Monday: Kris Orlowski

I recently designed the album cover for Kris Orlowski's latest release with the Passenger String Quartet.  The EP has been my "sing-a-long while I work" album all week long as I work away to get ready for the road trip I am leaving on later today with my boyfriend.
You know, I would say that this album probably is the perfect road-tripping soundtrack.   It has some calming and melancholy moments for when you are driving through the peaceful prairies, and epic swells of voices and instruments for those incredible moments of coming around a bend and seeing a beautiful mountain cradled by a rushing river.  Seriously, I'm not even exaggerating!  Just watch the video below!

I was so thrilled when he asked me to design his album cover because we had never met before this project and the more I researched his music, the more friend connections I realized we have!  In the video above, they are performing in a local arts center called the Fremont Abbey where my roommate Tori actually works!  And that fellow in the grey beanie, brown pants, blond curls and glasses is my talented friend Allen Stone who has an insane soulful voice.  Like woah, you won't even know what to do when you hear his voice.  I'm going to be sharing a little of his music with you next week actually :)
Allen's talented girlfriend Rachel Sumner is a photographer who has actually been a sponsor of my blog before and did some beautiful photography for Kris' album!  The lovely red-headed lady in the video above is my friend Lerin who I have known for years and met in college.  She is a really talented singer and songwriter.  You've gotta check her out.  And then there is of course good ol' Zach who I have also known for years and is roommates with my boyfriend!  He is the one in the black hat and plaid grey and black shirt.  And he is one of the 4 friendsies of mine in Hot Bodies in Motion.  He also performs with Macklemore.

Ok wow, I need to start doing some more interviews of my musical friends, I'm realizing...

Anyway, go check out Kris Orlowski's new EP out now! If you live in the Seattle area, he is playing lots of local shows in June so be sure to check out his site to see where you can catch him next!

Wow, that is really beautiful. I miss having my brother around to introduce me to new music, but you have inspired me to start searching again!

Beauitful music! Like the first comment, my brother is the one who introduces me to lots of new music {new-new like Beach House, and new-to-me like The Smiths} but this feature really shows me some stuff I wouldn't have heard otherwise. And it seems you've got loads of really talented people in Seattle. I swear if I lived there I would either have to work insanely hard to feel somewhat creative and not totally out of my depth, or the creative scene would make me a lot more confident in what I do...
