This Is My Father.

This is my dad.  Traveler, Most compassionate person I have ever known, Wise man, Surfer boy, Music lover (he finds out about new music way before I ever do), Clergy man, The original hipster,

Independent, Strong willed, Super stylish, Patient, Deep, The most loyal human being on earth, Manly man, Sensitive and warm hearted, Self sacrificing,

Incredibly intellectual, Down to earth, Powerful, Mentor to many, Understanding of all people, Playful and silly, Adoring of his family,

Lifelong student and teacher, Trustworthy, Faithful, Spiritual, Father to those without one, Tattoo lover,

Lives his life doing good for others, Mysterious, Defies the obvious, Paves his own way, Never fits stereotypes, Peaceful,

Adventurer, Animal lover, Calm, Test boundaries, Zen, Bad-ass, Introverted, Nature lover, Accepting of all people,

I adore and admire my dad beyond words.  If there was anyone in the world that I wanted to be like, it would be my dad.  He has had an incredible roller coaster of a life but through it all, he has always been a kind and compassionate person.  He understands people on a deeper level than anyone else I have ever met.  His reason is sound, and his heart is enormous.
He understands me on every level, relates to me in ways that most others can't, protects me from harm but trusts in my strength to let me make mistakes.  He has always given me freedom and empowerment to be exactly who I want to be and to believe in what I feel moved to believe in.  He has always told me he has faith that I can do whatever I set my mind to.  I believes in me and his love knows no boundaries.  He believes in change and progress, instilling in me that I always have the choice to be my best self, and he respects teachings of the past & value in learning from history.  He is the greatest father I could ever imagine, not only to me, but to my sisters, to the young men and hundreds of surrogate brothers I have known throughout my life who needed a fatherly mentor and role model, to every member of my Dad's congregation that he consoles, protects, encourages and mentors, to anyone who has ever met him and been engaged in conversation with him.  He is the greatest teacher because he understands that in teaching, mentoring, and loving others, he too learns something about himself, others, and a greater vision of truth and compassion.

I wouldn't be myself if I didn't have my dad as my father.  I am proud of me and happy with who I am because he gave me a foundation to learn how to love myself as I grew up.  He understands me when I hurt, he understands HOW I feel because our hearts are the same and we feel a deep compassionate hurt for others in the same way.  Our spirits are rare, as everyone's are, but we get each other.  And there is no greater feeling than knowing someone simply understands you and loves you for all that you are.

Dad, you are my hero and my light.  I relate to you more deeply than anyone.  Thank you for loving me and for teaching me how to love others boundlessly.  I am me because of you.  Happy Father's Day <3

( My dad has had to go to the ER 4 times this week because of Kidney Stones and he has never been in so much physical pain in his life as he has been in this week.  He had to spend the night in the hospital last night and woke up in the Hospital on Father's Day.  Please pray or send well wishes that he feels better soon.  I hate seeing him suffer. )

This is absolutely gorgeous. I hope your dad feels much better soon!!! :( I've never really gotten father-daughter bonds because my dad and I are not close whatsoever and my father-in-law doesn't really like myself, or his own daughter or... Anyone really. Whenever I hear a daughter expressing her love for her dad, it's so foreign to me. But at the same time, beautiful. I am SO happy you are lucky enough to have a great father.

Have a lovely day, lovely. ;) And may your dad be better soon and feeling better than ever!!!

You are so lucky to have such a caring and wonderful father. Unfortunately, I don't have that kind of relationship with my father. Seeing someone else love their father so much touches my heart. :) I hope he feels better soon.
