My Style, My Space // Eclectic Bohemian with Laura from Violet Bella

Hi guys, Im Laura, a girl who loves earthy and eclectic style in my home and wardrobe. I design jewelry, clothing and art for your home over at Violet Bella and Roots and Feathers, and I run a little blog under the name Violet Bella as well. Im so excited and honored to share my space with you here on Moorea's blog. She is a great inspiration to me in many ways.

I would say my personal style is a good mix of bohemian, handmade, nostalgic & earthy. I chose an outfit that can easily go from day to night. I styled it more for going out, with the accessories and wedges. But earlier in the day I was just wearing the dress, necklace and moccasins. I love blending textures and patterns with other more simple elements. For instance, I love the way the detail of the fringe pops against the simple black dress, and the contrast stitching on the leather belt again the feminine crochet. I love little details like. And the majority of the jewelry that I wear is handmade, either by myself or friends, with the exception of some favorite pieces like my bangle from Forever 21. I go back and forth between extremely casual (cut offs, cons and a tshirt) to wanting to doll up and feel girly. Im a very nostalgic girl and I tend to keep certain things forever, so I have several pieces in my wardrobe that I have had since I was a young teenager.

In my home styling I am very much about nostalgia. Most of my special pieces that I have chosen to display around my home were things that belonged to my mother, which many were things that she had from generations past. I love old handmade items. My husband and I just bought our first home and it has been the most exciting thing to decorate! I love that it is my very own space, and I can change it up anytime I want. We left the walls neutral, I absolutely loved the wall color when we walked in. Such a beautiful earthy blank canvas. My home decor is very eclectic, but with a definite vibe to it. I love the 60's & 70's era and tend to be drawn to all of the colors that were popular during that season. (As well as my musical taste) I love to decorate with my favorite vinyls and feathers. You will see them all around my house. You can see more of my home decor on my blog here.

My makeup tends to be the same most days, although I love to play with crazy makeup for photoshoots. But for my everyday wear I use earthy tones with a slight shimmer for my eyeshadow, along with dark brown eyeliner, with a cat-eye effect and black mascara. I love bare minerals makeup and use the bronzer as blush. I use a lightly colored lip gloss most days as well. Its a pretty simple routine that just takes a few minutes. For my hair, since I have finally found it in me to grow it out long, I love wearing it down and tousled or thrown up in a messy bun on days I dont want to mess with it. For the first time, I used glitter nail polish the other day and sort of fell in love.

The past year or so I feel like I have really grown into my style. I have gone through many stages in my life, from all black in high school, to every color of hair you could think of, to finding out that I feel best in my own skin when I let myself reflect my style in more subtle ways, like patterns and accessories instead of crazy bold statements. I feel the same way in my home decor. My home is so me that it feels like Im being wrapped up in a blanket each time I step inside the door. Its a good feeling to have such a strong sense of what I love and to be able to reflect that in my home and personal style.

Thank you Laura!  It is so inspiring to see how your style is so apparent not only in your design work for your shops but also in your outfits and decor!  I love the bohemian vibe.
