Meet Amy from A is for Ampersand! Her retro funky style with a touch of modern charm spans not only her home space, her personal styling, and her blog but also her now Etsy shop!
My whole life I've been saying that I was born in the wrong generation, and I think my home and personal style reflect that sentiment. As an avid thrifter/estate sale/vintage enthusiast, I've found that my wardrobe is now packed with pretty vintage dresses, funky 70s crop tops, and one-of-a-kind vintage shoes. I love the feeling of wearing something that belonged to someone else at one point and wondering what stories are behind it. Of course, this vintage flare carries through in my home decor as well, and I'm constantly on the lookout for unique vintage pieces to reflect my love for past eras.
This wall is probably my home's greatest homage to my vintage-loving soul. While not all the pieces are vintage, several of them are and carry great meaning to me. The picture of my dad is from 1973 where he's in his prime posing with his favorite camera. The Jimi Hendrix pictures you see are ones that my aunt personally took on the streets of New York in 1969, and they are my absolute prized possessions. All of this is centered around the heart and soul of our home--the record player and vinyl collection.
The dress I'm wearing here is a 1960s piece, and I paired it with some new shoes to spice it up a bit and give it a more modern feeling. That being said, I think that pretty much sums up my home and personal style--vintage with a touch of modern for good measure.
Thanks Amy for sharing your space and style! I love the retro musical theme in your space. Super funky and super cool :)
