What I Wore // Sparkle Scarf

Most days look like this.  Neutral colors...Aka, black, grey, beige or brown usually.  Billowy top and skinny jeans, some sort of boot, a scarf, and my hair up in a bun.  Easy peasy!  It's basically comfort clothes without looking too frumpy :)  Finding the right pair of skinny jeans is tricky for me because I hate really low waist-ed pants, I don't have much curve in the hips so they feel like they are constantly sliding off me.  I prefer high waist-ed pants but the boyfriend thinks high waist-ed pants are kinda grandma-y.  So finding a happy height of pants that aren't falling off but aren't reaching into the old lady pants territory is a tricky tricky navigation.  I'm on the hunt for some new pants for the cold months ahead.  Any one have recommendations for stores that carry affordable pants with not too high, not too low waist band?

WHAT I WORE:
Scarf:  Forever 21
Bracelets:  available in my shop
Top: H&M
Pants: Forever 21
Purse: c/o Handbag Heaven
Belt: vintage (my grandmothers)
Booties:  c/o Big Buddha

I LOVE the shoes, and everything looks so comfy and hassle free, which is my favourite look always.

I just bought a new pair of pants from Esprit and I think the waistband is just right! I'm a little curvy so I like mine to sit just above my hips so I don't have love-handles, haha.
I just moved to Germany to study here so I"m not sure how common it is in the US, but I know I've seen the brand from time to time back in California.

Good luck on the jean hunt! It's always the most difficult shopping adventure..

i swear by cheap skinnies from forever 21. i buy them for $10.50 and they always fit perfect. they aren't the best quality, but they fit me the best out of all the denim i've ever tried on. and for only ten bucks, they're worth trying out! ;)

I absolutely love Old Navy's Sweetheart cut skinny jeans. I had to find a higher waistline after I had a baby (and lost all the baby weighty), and my ON jeans are now a staple in my wardrobe!

I just recently bought a pair of Levi's Hi-Rise skinny jeans - they fit perfectly and solve the exact problem you described - they are not so low that they're always slipping down, but they don't come all the way up to the belly button either. They are great with sweaters and tunics, and when you reach up to grab something you don't get 6 inches of exposed stomach. They are $78, which is a little on the high side, but they're great jeans and I think they were worth it. On me they fit a little lower than in the picture on Levi's website, and they're comfortable and stay put. If you find another pair of mid-rise jeans you like, please post about them as I'd like to get a few pairs that fit this way. Here's the link to the pair I have:

Good Luck!

I have the same issue! The boyfriend always laughs at how high I like to wear my pants because he says it looks like I have a granny butt...boys just don't get it. But I've found a happy medium in Levi's jeans! Ali

You look SO gorgeous!!! <3 I love your outfits and your poses.

I can't help ya pants wise. I am a hip-n'-big-butt girl. Everything I eat, zoom, goes to those two areas. Yet my waist is fairly small. It's so annoying!!!

My husband feels the same way about high-waisted pants, haha!

I don't have the same build as you but...I swear by pants/ jeans from White House Black Market. Somehow they always fit, no matter the style or fabric- and I swear I am one size smaller in them. (heh!) thanks for stopping by & your nice comments!

you're so beautiful, Moorea! I usually wear neutral colors and one of my many scarves. I feel you about the skinny jeans, too. My favorite pair is so low waisted, and I can hardly wear them because I don't want to show off my butt.

Neutral colors are awesome! I love your scarf, it's so pretty! and those flats are so adorable! Honestly, I just bought a pair of jeggings from Target, and I love wearing them on my lazy days! :D

so i'm with you on the jeans conundrum. i have some f21 skinnies but they're a bit jr. high low rise for my tastes.

i bought some skinnies from urban-- bdg brand-- and I LOVE the rise on them. You can get high rise from them too, but the regular rise is great. (also- I'm convinced they look good on everyone-- my friend & i both bought em and we have very diff. body types.)

p.s. i wonder if your outfit of choice is a seattle thing-- i rock skinnies + loose top + cardi + scarf + bun alllll the time.

Great post Moorea, I love your style! Your nails are my favourite part, and also the bracelets you made - good job! Did you do them freehand or with a stencil?
