Filling A Space

sources

I am so excited to move in with my boyfriend next week!  Though our space isn't our absolute dream space, it's still a great little launching point for us and I am excited to make it really feel like it is ours.  I love that it is just a block away from a lake within the city and I love that the apartment building has a rooftop deck with a grill.  Nature and a feeling of freedom in the place that I live are really important to me and I feel like the location of our apartment gives me easy opportunity to feel close to nature within the city, giving me that sense of freedom.
I'm really excited to start collecting items for our space too!  Today, Max and I scanned Fab.com to see if we could find anything that would suit our space and we picked out a few great things that I'm excited to use.  Everything we picked is useful and good lookin' :)  Here are some goodies we picked up from Fab today!
I'm really excited to take that picnic basket with all of it's goodies inside to the edge of the lake with Max and our friends for a sunset dinner!  Max is a really really good baker so he'll definitely put that rolling pin to work with some pie making.  Woohoo!  I think the wine glasses are really unique and fun, so I ordered 4 along with special coasters so when they rest in the coasters, they don't roll around.  And last but not least, isn't that cheese platter so dang pretty?  If you've read my blog for awhile, you've probably picked up on how much I love the look of raw natural materials like raw wood and crystals.  Eek, I'm excited to have some wine and cheese parties :)

The most exciting new update on our apartment is... some of our best friends are moving in on the floor below us!  I'm so excited.  Our friends Booker (Jonathan) and Haley just got engaged a few days ago too which is pretty dang precious and they just decided yesterday to live in our same apartment building!  I lived with Booker a few years ago and then Max has lived with Booker the past 2 years so it will be great to still have Booker and Haley just a step away.  Conveniently, Booker works about two blocks away from the apartment and right now, Max is on his third interview to work for the same company as Haley.  We will see how it all pans out!  Wish him luck!  I'm excited to have weekly craft nights with Haley and I'm sure the boys will end up playing video games together all the time.  You can't take the kids out of the adults.  We'll try and balance it out our inner kid times with grown up wine and cheese nights with our fun new stuff!

Congrats on finding a place!! I can't wait to hear/see more as you and Max get settled in.

I've been having the worst time looking for new places. Oh my goodness rent is ridiculously expensive these days and people seem to be snatching up all the best places before I can even get a chance to look at them!

I had/have my hang ups with apartment living, but when I really think about it it doesn't suck. Your apartment sounds a lot like mine! Except our grills are in a courtyard and I only have roof access because my husband works here. Is your on Lake Washington too?

Right? Max spotted the cheese platter and I was like, um DUH I want that. So pretty! Now I need to get motivated to eat nicer cheese ;) I'm so thrifty I usually just stick with good ol' cheddar haha.

thanks Charity! I am so excited for this new step in my life. By the way, has anyone told you that you and Emma from A Beautiful Mess are total doppelgangers? You are both so pretty!

that was exactly our problems. We walked into multiple showings on time or a little earlier and STILL there would be like 5 couples already in there frantically filling out applications. Its so competitive!

Yea, I am really excited about our apartment, don't get me wrong! The location is great and I'm so excited about the roof deck. Now I just need to figure out how to cram all my shoes into our shared little storage spaces ;) I'm trying to purge as much clothes shoes and bags as I can before we move in together so my stuff doesn't overwhelm my boyfriends stuff :)

Hi Moorea, I just discovered your blog, it's great! And what a coincidence, I'm doing exactly the same thing this weekend - moving in with my boyfriend of five years! We've got a little one bedroom apartment close to the city (Wellington, New Zealand), and like you said, it's not our ideal space (no view or porch sadly), but it's a launching point for us and I can't wait to make it our own - and the best thing is, it's just us, we don't have to deal with housemates and all their dramas, we've both done all that before. I'm so excited, hope it all goes well for you! Sarah xo
