Setting Up

Well, this weekend my boyfriend and I moved into our new little apartment together!  I love the space, it's cozy and comfortable.  I love that we have a corner apartment so we get lots of light all day long.  Now the slow unpacking and setting up begins.  I scored some rad vintage wicker chairs last weekend from a yard sale.  I'm usually not a fan of wicker at ALL, but these have a really rad modern twist to them, they are kind of minimal and mod in their shape by the wicker ads a nice rough earthy element to them I think.  I also grabbed a set of 2 stacking tables at the Fremont Market on Sunday and I really really love them.  When it comes to home decor, I love clean sharp lines, contrasts with black and pale neutral tones, and rough wood and other natural element textures.  We'll see how this place shapes up over the next couple of weeks as I attempt to hunt down more great treasures and affordable prices!

I haven't been big on thrifting or yard sale-ing in recent years just because I have lived in shared spaces where the other people already had all the necessary decor and I don't like collecting things without an immediate purpose.  Up until this point, all I owned besides clothes and accessories were my bed, my dresser, my side table for my bedroom and then just a few random objects like a record player and artwork.  I'm really excited to finally get to invest in a space, decorating it to really suit my style.  And thankfully my boyfriend digs my taste when it comes to home decor so I'm having lots of fun dreaming up a space for us to both enjoy and call home!

Unfortunately, all this major moving and house cleaning, nesting and hunting down cool things to fill our space with has left me really not excited to work.  I'm the sort of person that when I have a goal, I just throw myself into it wholeheartedly.  And it's hard for me to balance fully devoting myself to work and to moving into our new space at the same time.  But I've gotta keep rollin' on all fronts!  Wish me luck :)

    1. Aw thanks so much. It's all about hunting down those hidden treasures at thrift stores and yard sale, just searching for those rare really well designed objects takes time. But the hunt is so worth it when the space is finished! And, ya save money if to take a long time to fill a space rather than buying a bunch of stuff all at the same time ;) haha
