Dress Up, What I Should Have Worn...

Glitter Feathers DIY by Anabela for Frankie Mag.

As per usual, I've waited until the very last minute to figure out what I want to be for Halloween.  And of course I forgot that, being a grown up, all of the shenanigans happen the weekend before Halloween, not on the day of.  Dang it.  I thought I could have whipped some sort of costume out by Wednesday but on this past Friday's afternoon I realized that the party I thought I was going to on Wednesday was actually happening on Friday night and I had no time to pull together costume.  Bummer.  Oh well, I probably would have been scrambling up to the very last minute tomorrow to try to pull something together anyway if the party had been on Wednesday.  Here are some ideas I had been mulling over for costumes:

I loved Anabela's glitter feathers DIY so much that I was tempted to figure out what I could be for halloween that involves glitter and feathers.  Sparkle bird?  Yea, I couldn't think of anything.  I also  love this Snail kids costume so I had planned on being a snail this year seeing as all I needed to make the costume is a bunch - o - paper.  I also thought about being Andy Warhol, because, well that would be pretty easy.  Just need a white wig.  So much time thinking about it with nothing to show.  Bummer.  What  did you/are you dressing up as for halloween?  Last year I was zombie Amy Winehouse... I know, maybe in bad taste but I couldn't think of anything else!  And the year before that I was Liz Lemon but everyone thought I was Sarah Palin, so close yet so far.  Overall, it seems I'm not the best at Halloween which is so lame because I LOVE Holidays!  Oooooh well.

This year, we may be something scary for the trick-or-treaters, but our real costumes are Princess Peach for me and Princess Daisy for Jen, from the Super Mario Bros! :D Whenever we play a Mario game with the option, I'm Peach and she's Daisy, so we thought, boom! Cute couple costume!

Those feathers are gorgeous! I too, wait until the last minute while all of the grown up things pass by the weekend before. We are newer to our town so we only have a few options. However, Im off work wed & thursday, so I will celebrate even if Im the only one dressed up. Speaking of which, we have had planned since the day after LAST halloween to be Janet Snakehole and Burt Mackelin from Parks + Rec... so my mission these next two days is to make that happen... If not, my fall back is Katniss from HG... i'll wear my clothes and buy the pin and maybe a kids bow & arrow! Hope you get to dress up and celebrate! xo

i have the same problem. i always have grand ideas that never end up happening. my best costume was probably when my husband and i dressed up as Hank and Peggy Hill from King of the Hill. It was amazing.
Oh and the year before (in 2008) we dressed up as McCain and Palin. that was hilarious.
this year we were going to go as zombies, and since i've taken a special effects makeup class before, i knew that we'd be able to make it look really awesome, but since we went to see Bob Dylan on Friday and the only party we were able to attend was going to be on Friday, we had to let this year go. SO BUMMED OUT.
BUT i've already decided we are going to have a huge Halloween party next year (that is if we ever get a house by then) because i have always wanted to throw one! I've even begun getting decorations on the cheap so that i don't have to spend too much money on the party. we have big plans for our costume next year. can't wait!

maybe i'll just throw a witch hat on while i pass out candy or something. oh, how fun...

These feathers are so pretty.
I saw glitter-dipped feathers in a magazine once; long, clean white eagle feathers dipped in gold sparkles. They were displayed in a vintage apothecary bottle. Gorgeous.

Was the Dylan concert fun? I saw him when I was a freshman in college and I was flippin out excited! He seemed kind of tired and well, old, haha but it was still awesome to get to see him!
And dude, you did a special effects makeup class? that is so rad!!
