One of my most favorite things in the world is gift giving. Money is not the source of happiness, nor are the material things we accumulate. But despite those things, those facts, I LOVE being able to give gifts. For most of my life, I have been on a crazy tight budget. But I have been saving and saving for this holiday season and I am so excited that I am able to give my loved ones presents that they both really want and need. When I was little, I remember I used to adamantly try to refuse gifts that others would try to give me. I felt bad taking anything from anyone, especially from those that I love. But as I have gotten older, I've come to realize that sometimes getting a present has nothing to do with "taking" something from someone. It's so much more about receiving and accepting love from another through a physical, visual mean. I am a very tactile person and I think I love giving gifts so much because I am able to communicate my love to those around me by thoughtfully giving them a physical token of my love.
I don't feel like I need anything for Christmas. But now that I am older and understand the communication of love through gift giving, I am and will be so grateful for any gift I may receive. I love all of these beautiful items above, all found on Etsy. Hooray for handmade! One of the reason I started making jewelry and selling on Etsy was because I wanted to have more means to give gifts to others. I like to think of each package I send out as a little token of my love and hard work. How do you like to communicate your love towards other?
