Welcome to a new series on my blog! I've always been a bit of a list addict. I feel a million times more peaceful and content with myself when I've got a few lists going, from what I need to do today to my favorite r&b songs from 2002. I love lists! So I thought it would be fun to start a series on my blog for 2013 that focuses on List making, lists for fun, lists for self discovery, you name it. And it's all about participation! Each week I'll have a new list prompt for you to download. I think it could be really fun to print out a page each week, collect them through the year and then bind them together at the end of the year as a little memento of 2013.

So this week, the list prompt is List the Words That Touch Your Soul. This list prompt was taken from the book List Yourself. I really liked this as our first list because it starts us off on a positive and reflective note as we begin our list making journey. It was fun for me to read through the words I wrote down, reflecting on why those words are important to me. It seems the words that I am most drawn to are more about my singular world and personal experiences. Maybe because I am an eldest child or because I feel like I grew up and took care of myself at a young age, maybe because I am such an introvert, I don't find a lot of need in others to find my happiness and contentment. I prefer a LOT of alone time, a few very close relationships, a lot of time to reflect and meditate on my experiences and thoughts, and a lot of quiet time. I think a lot of the elements that make up who I am ended up in the list along with words that help challenge me to get outside of myself.

Please feel free to download a PDF of Week 1 of 52 Lists above. You can print out the page and get to work jotting down the words that touch your soul, inspire you, and remind you of who you are. And feel free to post your lists on your blog, linking back to my blog. I'd love to follow along with your year of list making too! Feel freel to leave a link to your lists in the comments so I can check them out or link up your post below. Each week when I post about 52 Lists, you can come back to the post and link up your own post so that we can all explore each others lists. You are not required, it's just a fun way to check out each other's lists.

LOVE this!

DeleteThese lists just became my 2013 resolution.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Me too :) It's hard for me to follow through on big plans sometimes so this is my goal for 2013, creating lists that encourage and inspire!

Yay! Let me know if you post about your list and I'll add it to the list of folks participating!
DeleteI just love this! I'm joining in a little late! Just printed my list and very recently started a new blog, so this will work well for me! Thank you for sharing and I look forward to following along. I will be blogging and sharing soon!
ReplyDeletePosted my list today! Gypsy Crossings is my blog! :)
DeleteI can't tell you how much I love this! I have always had a thing for making lists, there is something so calming about just writing all sorts of things/thought down without having to articulate them into sentences and paragraphs. However, I find when I get stressed out (like right now..hello exams!) I find it difficult to write lists of anything but tasks, which can add to feeling overwhelmed if that's all you write. These prompts are such a great way to expand a familiar exercise in a positive new way!
ReplyDeleteI'll start now, and join in the link up next week!
Rachx
TOTALLY. I need lists to survive everyday. I have a million tasks and projects all the time so I need to stay organized. But sometimes I look at my lists and just feel so overwhelmed. So creating lists that inspire and comfort and make me happy are a new necessity in my life to stay sane haha :) Feel free to join the link up anytime!
Deletexo Moorea
This is great, i shouldn't do this since i'm doing lots of project but i'm in! i'm writing my list right now :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes it helps me to relax and to focus on my projects when I take a moment to do something just free of stress, calming, and fun like filling out lists like these. It gets jumbled ideas out of my head so I can focus on the important projects ahead. Good luck!
DeleteI couldn't fit all of my words on one page! This was so motivating! I can look at my list if I'm having a rough day and feel calm and inspired. When is the next list?
ReplyDeleteYAY! My list got pretty big too! It makes me feel so great knowing I have so many ways to feel comforted and calm. Come back on Tuesdays every week to see the newest list prompt!

ReplyDeletethe download link, doesnt seem to be working... :(
ReplyDeleteMoorea,
ReplyDeleteAli Edwards sent me your way, and I LOVE your year of lists idea. I have to say I am not that good at creating lists, although I do them when absolutely necessary! However, my mom, 90 years old and going strong, has always been a list maker. In fact, I've saved many of my favorites of hers for inclusion in an album someday. Thanks for creating this neat way to journal and take a look at myself and my life during the upcoming year.
Nadine
Coming in a little late but am attempting to catch up on all the lists so that I'm starting fresh with you on Tuesday. Thanks for this idea. Bought a fabulous journal to get started. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI'm a late comer, but thin this is so awesome!! I am starting now from week 1.
