What I Wore // Plus Signs & Snakeskin

You guessed right folks, another black and white and grey outfit.  I can't help it, I just love neutrals!  And here is an example of how I like to play with patterns and texture to spice up a simple color palette.  I decided recently that I am diggin' snakeskin print.  I think it can be a tricky pattern to pull of but if you style it right, it can work.  For some reason, I think snakeskin print looks great on tall people, kind of like how I think shorter women can pull off polka dots best.  Do you agree?  Maybe because I am tall, I just think some patterns look better on shorter people than on my 5'9" frame.  I feel like a bold over all pattern can get too busy or overwhelming on a tall, broad shoulder person like me.  But snakeskin is one of those prints that I just feel like works for my height.
I received this beautiful shirt and these super cozy fleece lined leggings from one of my sponsors this month, Collide Boutique, and I love them both so much.  Whoever invented fleece lined leggings is a genius!  Now I wouldn't usually wear leggings as pants but these are so thick and warm that I'm giving it a go.  They are pretty short, as in like 4 inches too short for me to wear without boots unless I'm going for the capri look.  I think they were just made for shorter women.  So if you are about 5'0" - 5'5" I think these would be the perfect leggings for you that will hit you at your ankle.

Now isn't this scarf the best ever? I've been loving the + sign trend that has been hopping around the design world for awhile now and have wanted something with plus signs all over it for just as long. Finally I have indulged myself in this scarf from target and I am obsessed. I plan on wearing it everyday for all eternity, or at least for a few months. It's a super soft texture, I love this shade and tone of grey, and I dig the length of it too. I'll have to post a vlog next month on a few different ways that I tie my scarves. But first I need to take a workshop at Alt Summit on videography. PS, I'm SO excited to be attending Alt from Jan 23-26th in Salt Lake City. Are any of you going? For those of you who have already been, do you have any tips for a newbie like me?

  3. I'm a Snake in Chinese Astrology, so I love snakeskin (faux!) anything. I also think snakeskin print compliments me, even though I'm on the shorter end of the height scale.

You look AMAZING in this outfit! I love the colors, and snakeskin does suit you very beautifully!

  9. Hey there!
I think this is the first time I've ever commented but I feel the need to point out how similar I think we are (in a totally non creepy way). I'm also 5'9" and we have pretty much the exact same hair, and I work in a creative industry (interior design) and I adore neutrals. Also, I have the same glasses and target scarf as you! I aspire to live on the west coast someday soon and I just wanted to tell you my observations! Keep up the great blog!

    1. HA! That is so awesome! I think one of the most fun things about blogging is finding people who you have lots of random things in common with. Great minds think alike!
