The 52 Lists Project

Welcome to the 52 Lists Project! I'm Moorea Seal, the author of the 52 Lists Project and founder of popular shopping site mooreaseal.com and I'm so excited to share this project with you!

ABOUT THE 52 LISTS PROJECT:
I've been a huge list addict for as long as I can remember! I feel so much more peaceful and content with myself when I've got a few lists going from what I need to do today to what my favorite songs were in 2002. I love lists! So in 2013, I started a project on my blog called the 52 Lists Project that is all about taking a little time to yourself once a week to reflect and recognize all of the power and love within yourself through list making. In the middle of 2013, I launched my retail site, mooreaseal.com, and then the next year I opened a brick + mortar shop in Seattle, WA! And with all of my busy work, it let my project fall to the way side. But because I missed it so much, in 2014, I secretly started the journey of transforming it into a REAL LIFE 52 Lists Project JOURNAL!

THE JOURNAL:
The 52 Lists Project has been a phenomenal success since it's launch in September of 2015. You can find it on mooreaseal.com, at Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Paper Source, Amazon, and at over 200 boutiques, gift shops and book stores across the world!

Read more about the 52 lists in book form here!

START WHEREVER YOU LIKE:
You are welcome to begin with the digital list prompts below that I began in 2013 but was only able to finish mid way through the year, or grab the real life journal that offers 52 Lists for the entire year to start your journey!  A few of the list prompts from the original online list are scattered through the journal, but most of the lists in the journal are fresh and new, ready for you to make your own :)

COMMUNITY:
I am SO excited to see how you make this project your own, finding new life, joy, and strength as you work your way through the lists! Use the hashtag #52ListsProject on Instagram and across social media so we can all link up and see what new insight each of us is discovering through our journeys. I am in this with you and can't wait to see how you celebrate you, your life, your experiences and passions all through this process. Get started!

thank you for such an inspiring way to remind me to behold each day being mindful of myself and others. I was diagnosed with a incurable cancer three years ago. I am hopeful, with treatment, I have more years ahead of me. It is a struggle sometimes to see the forest for the trees but your proposal will go a long way to seeing those beautiful things that surround and touch me. Blessings to you.

Trying to follow your twitter links on my phone is sometimes frustrating. Is there any way you can link without always sending us to Facebook? Can't even see the KI paper without logging in to Facebook, which seems counter to your goal of sharing cool stuff. It may be just a mobile issue and a minor thing, but it's frustrating all the same. I'm not trying to be critical, just thought you might not know it's creating extra steps to follow your links. Thanks!

Thank you for letting me know that problem! I will try and fix that. I didn't realize it was sending people to facebook!

Oh thank you so much for sharing a little bit of your story with me. I honestly have so many deep fears of getting cancer in the future. And the sad facts are that so so so many will get some form of cancer in their lifetime. I admire you for being hopeful for your future. I think the human will is so much more powerful and stronger than the body. Even when our bodies are suffering and going through torment, we still have that power deep down inside of our spirits to be and do something greater than our what our bodies can contain.
I'm praying for you my friend, for healing of the body, for peace and empowerment deep down in your soul. I know you have a platform to do GREAT things through sharing your story. <3 Thank you for leaving note on my blog.

The documents are quite difficult to download. The 4share.com service is so riddled with advertising and fee-based offers that I just got frustrated and gave up. One link I found wanted me to download a file called "wk1.exe" which seems like it might be your document, but as a practice, I don't download executable files from unknown sources.

Have you considered a different file sharing service that isn't so focused on everything except delivering the files? Maybe a Google Drive account where you could share the documents via a link?

LCD said...

This is a great idea and I'm also a big list person. So, it's inspiring! I also dislike the download service--it's rather complicated and doesn't seem safe with popups, etc.
I'm not really sure what is in the download files so maybe I don't need them? I think I'll just play along on my own...
Thanks!

Came here via Ali Edwards. What a FANTASTIC IDEA! LOVE, LOVE LOVE LISTS!
I'm having a hard time downloading. Keeps opening windows for 4share, etc and offering to sell me a service for $9.95/month, etc. I, too, somehow, downloaded a wk1.exe, but my computer isn't recognizing it. So, think I might just follow along and hand-write my own headings. (Although, yours ARE LOVELY!)

Found you via an Etsy customer who linked me up! I've been working on gathering list ideas {49 of them since I turn 49 in March} and am so happy to have found you, Moorea, and your blog and this wonderful project. Perhaps now I won't pre-plan all my lists as I had thought and will take a peek at yours now and again for inspiration.

This is a great project! Wanna share your list sheets? They are really pretty and would be great to make the lists into a keepsake project!

Found you via the blog imperfecthomemaking.com. I was wondering if all the lists would be appropriate for a 12 year old girl. Wanted to check before I gave her a link to this project. She would love it though. Found a journal once at BAM which had list prompts. Almost bought it for her before I saw a couple inappropriate list prompts like "Most exciting places I've had sex".

Hi Moorea,
I just discovered 52 Lists today... via Ali Edwards. Although it's already March first, I'm SO inspired to begin today! I have a beautiful blank journal that I have been saving for the perfect inspiration. I'm enjoying a brand new chapter in my life... retirement, after 35 years of teaching. It will be wonderful to have a journal filled with 52 Lists to help me reflect back on this special time in my life!
Heartfelt thanks!

I found this pretty late myself, but since we can join at any time I figured why not now. I don't have a printer so I'm doing this on Microsoft Word. Is that acceptable? I could do it all by hand and take pictures of the lists and upload them that way if Word is unacceptable.

Catching up on 15 lists. It'll be a great weekend. =) Mind if the quote one is a little long? I've been collecting quotes for years and could put together a book. Going through and choosing only my absolute favorites turned out to be quite a task! =D

Thank you Ms. Seal for doing this project! I needed something positive to get me through the year. Thanks again.

I to am wondering if the lists are going to continue. There have been a few weeks missed now, and I have to say that I was disappointed that I didn't have my prompt to make me sit down and think / evaluate / reflect. I have very much enjoyed this project and am hoping hoping hoping that you will continue it!! Thank you!

Anonymous said...

It seems we are 3 or 4 lists behind. I'm disappointed. I was looking forward to a completed journal at the end of the year :( please don't abandon us! Can you please update us about this project? Thank you!

Anonymous said...

I keep checking back thinking my email is sending list updates to my spam folder but that's not the case.
I know you were away being with family & important business for a while. That is VERY important.
I was also looking forward to a completed journal of lists. I have 21- but we are behind.
There was a post saying "21 was out, expect another one or two in the same week" and we got nothing.
I DO hope all is well with you and you continue with this project... So many of us enjoy it. Thanks!

Anonymous said...

I was loving the 52 Lists project and I hope you are able to continue :) I know running a business and especially starting a new one is quite taxing but just thought you should know my friends and I are missing the list topic/posts. :) Congratulations on the launch of your online business! :)

Just found your project, I am so going to do this! :) So what I am half year behind? Sending hugs to you for thinking to make such inspiring project!

Anonymous said...

Kinda disappointed that we're still behind. :/ I know you're busy with the new business and all but still...this kind of inconsistency will lose you readers and followers if you keep it up. Just being honest. I really love this project and hope it continues.

Anonymous said...

I hope you continue updating even though we've fallen a little behind. I was enjoying doing a prompt each week. I've been adding them to my website and am looking forward to having a completed book at the end of the year - even though it won't truly be a reflection of each week anymore. I hope everything is okay.

Anonymous said...

I hope you will be able to continue with this project. I have really been enjoying making my weekly lists. It's fun to go back and read through. I imagine at the end of the year it would be really nice to look back through and see the things that mattered to you, etc. It looks like there are a lot of people missing this.

Anonymous said...

Now that the shop is launched...can we get back to the lists? I would really like to finish this project but if it isn't updated soon I will likely just make up my own prompts for the rest of the year and ditch this blog entirely.

Anonymous said...

I too am missing this, I was using this as a prompt for my journal to help stay on a positive track. I know the new business launch took time, but I guess it is discouraging when you get one or two posts a week about other things and the 52 weeks is just left in the dust with promises of more to come and we don't see more. I truly hope we can get caught up on these soon as it is a very good project to do.

Anonymous said...

yes, please bring back the 52 Lists posts.
back dating the missing ones, and continue going forward, would be the best.
i'm missing it and everyones responses
thanks for doing this project

Anonymous said...

Discouraged that we're so far behind. Wondering if you'd consider just posting the weekly prompts for the weeks we've missed - so that those of us who wish to get up to date could do so? Completely loved 52 lists and would be sad to end at twenty-something... However, congratulations on your new business. I do wish you the very best of success.

I am beginning to think that our comments mean nothing - we have been asking for an update and or new list or weeks now and we get not one response I guess the business means more than the followers of this site and project do. I don't mean to sound harsh but it feels as if she does not care what we think or how much this meant to so many people. I for one feel let down.

"Dear Anonymous August 8, 2013" ~ I am not associated with the blog here but I have to say something. So, Moorea has started a new business which takes all of her time and if you really read her last entries, they are all about her dealings with her business. If you are really wanting to finish the 52 lists then make up your own for the rest of the year and stop harassing an aspiring business woman! This is what I plan to do. If Moorea chooses to continue or post the rest of the year then Hurrah for us, but if not, then we are adult enough to come up with a few ideas of our own... Good luck Moorea on your continuing success!

I totally agree with you Sandi :) Starting a new business is time consuming and you have to give it your all to be successful. I've finished all of Moorea's lists and now I'm coming up with my own because 'I' want to finish the project. There's lots of list ideas out there, and plenty of books about creating lists. Moorea has shown she cares about her readers and remember that she's been sharing her lists with us for free!

To Sandi & Shell- not Anonymous Aug 8 but am one of the many Anon commenters. When you have a blog you open it up for your followers to comment. In fact at the bottoms of this page it says honest comments are welcome. I don't think anyone is harassing by stating they are saddened by the fact that the lists have disappeared. It's the honest truth for some. Many of us follow because of the lists and because it didn't cost $8 just to get them. I congratulated Moorea on her new endeavor. It's a lot of time, hard work, dedication and commitment. However, adult or not it was something many of us looked forward to- we were doing the project right along with her. We can find lists elsewhere as Shell suggested and many will go to others who have created lists and leave this site.

I guess what I'm not understanding, is why you would start a public project called '52 Lists' and then stop at week 20? I understand Moorea you are under no obligation to us to finish the project, but it's disappointing. Every week I looked forward to coming and reading your lists and seeing what the new prompt was. And I keep checking back but still nothing. I wish you could at least post and let us know if you ever plan to pick it back up so I can plan. We are now on week 33 which is 13 weeks behind, so I'm thinking it's safe to assume we're on our own from here on out. :-(

I to am disapointed I am really inspired by this project.
I do have to say I am thankful for 20 weeks of wonderful lists.
I don't think Moorea would have start with the thought of not continuing.
I for one know how things in life can take you away from the things you really want to do.
If you ever find the time to complete your 52 lists I will be right here checking in to play along with you.
Thanks for a great idea and awesome inspiration.
A loyal blog reader.

I have been trying to link to the list but can't figure out how to do that. I've copied the first 20 and love them. Will be using them in both scrapbooking and journaling.
Thanks for the great ideas.

What are some of the list ideas that everyone has come up with? I'd love to read about your list inspiration and figure out more ideas for my journaling!

I've bookmarked this as something I want to start in 2014, maybe by the time I get to week 20 the project will be back up and running but if not then I'm sure I can fill in the gaps. Thanks for sowing the seeds of this great idea.

I am on the last week! I hope you continue these lists :)

So, after googling list prompts, I found you. Not doing it weekly, just using them as prompts for whenever I feel like listing. Thanks :)

I'm just wondering, did you only get to 20 and stop, or did you do increments of 20? I love this idea, but are there more lists?

This sounds really cool. I am definitely doing this on my blog in 2014.

I read somewhere about doing a trackback or somehow sharing if we are participating and I am not sure how to do that, but I linked back to this page in the blog I posted about week one.

Is there anywhere to get the your other lists for 2013? I absolutely love this idea and I work with troubled teenagers and would like to do these lists with them as part of their treatment... but I wasn' sure where to find the rest of 2013 lists and where 2014 new posts were. Look forward hearing from you.

Hi Holly. I was unable to complete all 52 Lists last year as I opened my new store half way into the year. But this year I am working through 52 Lists starting from the beginning.

Sounds like an interesting Idea to start in August (summer term and busy but might plan 52 prompts prior to starting this project in August.

HankJayne said...

Is this ever going to be continued? I absolutely loved filling out the prompts you have currently in my journal, and I'm curious as to what the rest of them will be because they've been really unique and fantastic so far! If you aren't planning on continuing it, is there any way you could email me the rest of the prompts so I could finish them for my own personal use/benefit? I wouldn't post them anywhere, I just hate leaving things half done. :)

Hello Moorea!
My name is Paulie and I was beyond excited to discover your book at the Seattle airport several weeks ago. I was so tickled because I actually found and followed your blog years ago, back when you first began the 52 lists project. (and I think I even commented once that I wished so much you would continue it, though I understand now how unbelievably busy you must have been.) Anyhow, I just wanted to tell you that I am so excited about where you've taken it since. I am hoping to keep an established blog someday and LOVE anything to do with photography, blogging, list-making, and small businesses. All in all, I wanted to say that you are an inspiration to the hopeful artist/blogger/small-business-owner in me, and from one human to another, I wish you all the luck in the world. Thank you for your artistic inspiration!

YAY!!! thank you for commenting and letting me know you saw it in the airport! Dang, I was just in the airport this week and should have stopped in to see it!
You're right, I'm craaaaazy busy, but I still read every comment that someone leaves and everything you said was so special to hear. thank you so much for your kind words!

I have to say, im always trying to improve my organizational skills and i love this journal already for allowing me to do that while at the same time reviewing and reflecting on my life. What an excellent book, thank you :)

I enjoy making list and writing in a journal. I am going to follow The 52 list because it really has great ideas. I run out of things to write about and sometimes I just need inspirations from others because mine is all dried up at times. Thank you for this idea. I really love it.
